Homes Animals to We rehome to London and its surrounding counties

Rescue Remedies is a home-based rescue who actively help rehome dogs of all kinds. These could include purebreds, cross-breeds, special dogs or older dogs.

Before deciding to adopt a dog, you need to decide which type of dog will be best suited to you and your family.

Rescue Remedies home to mainly to London & the surrounding Counties, but further afield to the right home.  We aim to provide a safe and warm foster home for dogs, who have lost their homes, whilst they are waiting for their forever owners. Rescue Remedies also helps kennel dogs develop skills to enable them to find their pet homes.

As a small rescue, run solely by volunteers, we are dependant on goodwill and volunteers who open their homes to foster a dog in need, donate dog food or items, spread the word to search for good homes and above all, offer a homeless dog their home for life.

We neuter the dogs in our care prior to adoption (with the exception of puppies or if there are medical grounds not to do so at the time). Additionally our dogs have received at least one vaccination, are microchipped, as well as flea and worm treated.

Any donations/contributions made towards our work are used to pay our veterinary & kennelling costs.  We take nothing out for admin or expenses and individuals cover these costs themselves.

We carry out home checks to ensure the home meets the dogs needs and may also ask for vet reference.

We do not discriminate against a dog on age, breed or health and we
aim to give a truthful description of the dog to the best of our knowledge and assessment.

For home checking purposes we do prefer that prospective adopters live within London or surrounding counties.
However, if we have a dog with very specific needs then we may be prepared to travel further afield for the right home and will call on our rescue friends to homecheck.

Adoption Restrictions:
We require a completed Homing Questionnaire which can be found on this link: https://rescueremedies.wufoo.com/forms/r7x3s5/ so that we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle. If you do not have access to email please telephone us on 020 8274 0471.  If you do not get through first time, keep trying as we are very busy! Sorry, but we cannot return any phone calls to mobile phones. All adoptions require a successful homecheck and a minimum contribution of £150 to enable us to continue our work. All our dogs can be arranged to be seen in their foster homes, you must be prepared to travel to view a dog. Please note that we will not home dogs to people who work full time, have unneutered dogs or live in a high rise properties without garden access.

Gizmo | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Gizmo, Partially Sighted, Staffie, DOB 08-09

Homing requirements: Gizmo is partially sighted and needs a family geared to this. It is actually easy to forget he is challenged when in his company.  His family will need to have awareness and be alert making sure he isn't put at risk of injury or danger i.e. roads. He needs a family who can ensure his eyes receive 'care' as required, if they prove vulnerable. Gizmo could live with another fluent dog or dog friendly cat. Gizmo would prefer a companion home, but would tolerate part-time working.

His Story: Gizmo was found stray & chipped, but the owner was no longer contactable. He presented with 'cherry eyes', but once operated on was found to have very limited vision which he makes full use of with alert hearing and he is not as 'disabled' as you would assume.

Advert: Gizmo is a larger than life character in a small body with tiny eyes that seem to gaze up at you with a huge smile! He is very attuned to people and loves to meet everyone and everything. Gizmo has a passion for life; a heart the size of a ship and just adores company! Gizmo is sensitive to light coloured items and moving objects, optimising and 'reading' every bit of sensory information he has to achieve quite a clear understanding of his environment.

Gizmo is happy to run around and play ball, but just as happy to sit by your feet and be stroked whilst you watch TV. He will potter from room to room and be beside you. Gizmo is special, but no need to feel sorry for him ... he is never sad. In kennels he stands alert waiting for a voice directed his way or a movement which means he might get a fuss! He isn't delicate and loves a rough and tumble, but obviously his home needs to be managed to ensure he doesn't inadvertently damage himself e.g. sharp coffee table corners. Gizmo is a concentrated dollop of goodness.

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Please visit Gizmo's thread, in Dogs needing homes in Kennels on our forum http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/about3577.html to find out more about him and follow his progress.

Lexi | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Lexi, Staffie, DOB 06.04

Homing Requirements: Lexi needs a family who can offer her care and company. She is accomplished, but being a small terrier type, may be better living with older responsible children, but willing for you to argue your case! She is currently unsettled by her ordeal in rescue so need times to find herself and circumstance to tolerate initial protest. She cries, so needs an understanding family helping her soothe away emotional pain.

Her Story: Lexi was found stray and chipped. Contact number not acknowledging her, but suspect it was her ex-owner. Lexi has now been spayed and is receiving ear treatment for a neglected ear condition. Fur scurfy and currently sparse. Undergoing vax.

Advert: Lexi arrived at our door as a little waif. She is 6 years old and small, so likely to be a longer liver so please don't let her age be a factor in not considering this gem. She was not in good condition when found, yet so very trusting. Her ordeal has affected her as she is emotionally unsettled currently, but not clingy. Just very perceptive to change and looking for stability.  She settles once coming to terms with a situation and we are confident that given time she will adapt into a new life style geared to her needs. She may even enjoy the right dog's company as she is dog fluent. Though she will need a dog-fluent companion as she is a little on edge as she settles and achieves a sense of trust. She is housetrained and enjoys the car, but likely to create initially on a journey and if left in it!

Lexi is a tender soul, so much the 'rescue dog' currently. She is a moments step away from becoming the treasured healthy and contented gem. She is ready to lighten your life and offer you pleasant, easy and social walks in life and loving friendship. She loves meeting people and dogs. She would benefit from routine and from companionship.  Little Lexi currently looks "the unsettled rescue dog who hasn't had the best of treatment". She is on the road to becoming that precious 'much loved' and 'apple of her owner's eye' little girl.

Maisie | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Maisie, Staffie, 2-3 years old

Homing Requirements: Maisie needs a caring family who have experience and time to allow her to settle. She was a homeless person's dog so will appreciate home comforts. She needs basic training giving her clear communication and understanding of her needs to equip her for her new family life.

Her Story: Found Stray, her owner came forward, but couldn't afford the reclaim fee ... have since lost contact with him as a homeless person. She is now neutered, is chipped and being vax'd.

Advert: Maisie is a little sad at the moment as she tries to make sense of kennels and being in rescue. She walks well on the lead, meets people and dogs well. She has a lovely vibe and is settled in her skin. Not a leapy Staffie, but the very loving dog. She is in good health.

Beauty shines through her; Maisie is amazing. Kind and true and will make a wonderful family dog. She is untested within a home as yet being new into rescue and awaiting either a foster place or ideally her home. Really can't see Maisie having any real issues other then settling into your routine and expectations, by offering her guidance and warmth of touch and environment. Kindness and sincerity.

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Nellile | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Nellie, English Bull Terrier X, DOB 05

Homing Requirements:  Nellie would like a bull breed experienced owner who is happy to love her and she them. She meets most dogs well outside and probably has lived with another as she was found with another. More concerned in the presence of men, but does relax once her nerves are put aside

Her Story: Nellie was found tied to a railing on a busy A road with another dog. She had been through Battersea and was chipped and found to be spayed, but there was no response from the chip details. Nellie is so lovely and would suit English Bull fan very nicely!

Advert: Nellie is coping with being in rescue, but really desires to be in a home. She is obviously out of kilter, but enjoying any time she has outside her kennel and proving very loving and a rescue favourite.  She is settling in kennels, but is a little guardy in this strange environment. Nellie is the size of an English Bull terrier, but slightly longer in the body perhaps.

Nellie is in quite good condition, walks well on the lead and travels well in the car.  Her feel in English Bull and we have come to truly adore this breed from the experience we have had of them. Beautiful head on her with loving beady eyes that hit your soul and swell your heart.

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Alfie | Jack Russell Terrier

Alfie, Jack Russell Terrier, DOB 04.03

Homing Requirements: Alfie needs a 'feet on the floor' terrier home to put the confidence behind Alfie and give him the opportunity to settle in another dogs company outside again. He may need the temporary use of a muzzle just for those off lead dogs who don’t heed Alfie's nerves. He ideally needs a child-free living environment though meets children well just hasn't had much to do with them.

His Story: Alfie was living with 2 other dogs, but they fell out and so a relative took Alfie in and has kept him away from dogs believing him not to be fluent. He actually has quite good dog skills; he just had several squabbles in the pack alas he was the one to lose his home. His owners weren't happy to have Alfie near the new baby especially as it began to crawl. He was taken to the vets, but vet thought little Alfie needed the right rescue home and asked terrierrescue to help.

Advert: Alfie has such beauty and is an affectionate soul. He is fine in the house and a delightful chap all round. He travels in the car well. Alfie became frightened of other dogs when he lost his home over a squabble and his owners felt it was better to keep him away. Alfie is losing his intense curiousity with other dogs and is learning to tolerate their company and was that 'perhaps a smile?'

Alfie as you can see is a delightful character. We are looking for a terrier experienced owner who is happy to continue the work we have been doing to give him back his confidence so he understands dogs don't hurt him. He is looking for an adult home and would love to be your companion and true friend.

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Please visit Alfie's thread, in Dogs needing homes in Kennels on our Forum at http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra35520.php#35520 to find out more about him and follow his progress.

Bonny | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Bonny, Staffie, DOB 09

Homing Requirements: Bonny needs a dog confident home as she has lost 2 homes now where people were looking to her as the puppy dog to call the shots. With firm and kind management Bonny's confidence and skills will grow, in particular with respect to other dog encounters. Bonny is good with children, but not for small furries or cats.

Her Story: Bonny lost her home when a puppy was introduced. She was taken in by a family, but they were not experienced enough to assure Bonny's skills with other dogs matured so was kept away. Bonny is novice with dogs, but not bad. Bonny needs a dog centred family.

Advert: Bonny has just come into temporary foster and she is finding life stimulating, challenging and a whole lot of fun. She is learning to mix with dogs outside, enjoying car journeys, paddling in streams and being kissed by children. The latter she is well used to as her life has been about children, but now its time to discover what being a dog is all about and associating with 'one's own kind'. Bonny is probably not for cats, small furries or feathers.

Bonny is a beauty; bonny indeed. Her fur colouring is 'champagne', but its not yet time to break open the bottle ... lets find your right family first. Bonny needs to embrace life and enjoy the adventure. She needs to find herself and mature by developing confidence based on training. She may never be 100% fluent with other dogs inside her home, but outside she meets dogs well.  Staffies are 'people dogs' and this identification is strong; dogs exist sure! Bonny's life has been about the company of children and she offers this as her skill, joy and delight.

Rocky & Callie | Jack Russell Terrier

Our Dynamic Duo, Collie & JRT pair, Callie & Rocky - need to find a home together ...

Videos:

http://vimeo.com/14528344

http://vimeo.com/14527762

Homing Requirements: Callie and Rocky came into the pound together and need to be homed together. They are a harmonious pair. They need a nurturing home who are able to bring them both back to their full glory and health. Patience and a tender heart with secure garden and willingness to build on their many strengths and offer them the security in life they never dreamed of.

Their Story: Callie and Rocky came into a Welsh pound together very thin and uncared for. It is thought they came off a farm. They are both now newly neutered and recuperating in foster care.

Advert: Callie is a Border Collie who is currently very thin and just about to have a professional groom, perhaps for the first time in her life. Rocky is ready for a groom, but isn’t so thin. He has a tricoloured broken coat and a docked tail. Both are responding with gratitude to loving kindness. They are currently 95% housetrained as they work out the house rules. Happy in one another's company and the company of dogs in general. It won’t take long to get them into tip top condition as they are a young to middle aged pair.

Callie is extremely loving and currently enjoying having company and care. Rocky is a busy chap who has smiles for everyone and is very much the entertainer. So many people get a dog and then start to look for a companion, but here we have a ready made pair who are there for one another and you'll delight in their gifts and devoted relationship to one another and their owner(s).

Jess | Patterdale Terrier

Jess, Patterdale, DOB Dec 02

Homing Requirements: Jess needs a terrier experienced home who can bring her through into a quiet and calm lifestyle. She has lived within a young family and has taken it upon herself to keep all in check. She has hard nipped, but these 3 occasions have been in terrier moments e.g. checking a running child or a stranger appearing in her garden with open boundaries.

Her Story: Jess is from farm Patterdales so her working instincts are to the fore. She grew up alongside children and they her. She has had 3 incidents of hard nipping, but these have been within excitable circumstance. However the last incident has been with a local vet's daughter who is not  forgiving and her family is having to rehome Jess as a consequence as she can’t be kept on a muzzle within her open garden.

Advert: Jess is a great character who has lived her life to the full alongside her family and 'children'. She loves play and overseeing all chores about the house. She loves her walks over the fields and although not overly friendly with dogs she meets, she is managed and kept focused on her walk. Jess is wrapped up in her family and sees herself as their guardian.

Jess is a black terrier with a greying muzzle; only 7 years old ... which is not old for a terrier. She has plenty of life in her, in fact a little too much for her current circumstances. Jess needs to be an only pet though may manage a dog friendly cat as she currently lives with 2, but transfer of packs doesn't always work without real effort. Jess is in good health and vigor. We are trying to avoid her coming into kennels so a forever home would be great, but a foster home would also enable her to find her feet within a secure garden situation and take the tension out that she is currently experiencing in her present lifestyle.

Please visit Jess's thread, in Dogs needing homes Terriers Nationwide on our Forum http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra38892.php#38892 to find out more about her and follow her progress.

Reg | Jack Russell Terrier

Reg,  Jack Russell, rough tricolor coated, DOB 02.09

Homing Requirement: Reg needs a family with other dogs so he can enter and continue to soften his 'survival and working instincts. You will need to 'get' terriers, but his canine pack needn't in fact be terriers. Reg still needs a forgiving family where he is helped to build up his domestic skills and training.

His Story:  Reg was found stray at the end of November 09. He had little understanding of household living, but living with another dog helped him greatly to settle and learn the ropes. His companion died of old age and his lack of skills became more prominent with the onus on him. His family are holding on to him until he finds another home in with at least one other as we are all convinced he isn't suited as an only dog.

Advert: Reg is a super terrier. He is young, affectionate and intelligent. Soft in coat and astute in instincts. Reg has been learning to live in a family and home. His owners had many a laugh over Christmas as he came to terms with life indoors helped by his true friend Molly an older terrier whom he adored. Sadly she died and Reg has been noticeably 'at sea' since and has taken a backward step. But we have pictures of when he came to us and the pictures received 8 months on show Reg much more settled and 'in his own skin'. We are looking for a forever home for Reg in with another or other dog(s). His owners are happy to retain Reg until his new family are found.

Reg is a sweetheart and has begun to know what it is to be loved over the past 9 months. He is now healthy and has his own pet passport. Reg is a marvellous Jack who once his new owners spot him and recognize they have the right setting for him ... he'll be gone in a flash. Watch this space!

Rocky | Patterdale Cross

Rocky, Patterdale x, DOB 11.05

Homing Requirements: Rocky needs a terrier experienced family who can place confidence down his lead to allow him to settle outside and contain his excitement on seeing and meeting other dogs, livestock, etc. He is settling into his training and guided input and needs continuation of  this, which his current owners have offered him.

His Story: Rocky's family took Rocky on in early June . They were not aware of Patterdales being livelier working type terriers. He isn't fluent with other dogs. He is attending training classes. He needs a more experienced home. Rocky is recently neutered, vax'd and chipped.

Advert: Rocky is a 4 year old Patterdale who is excitable, but will settle with consistency of approach and management. He has a broad understanding of commands which apply generally in his home, but often aren't heard once he is excited or outside. He is retained on an extender lead and has begun to develop relationships with dogs he has overcome his initial nerves with.

Rocky has been loved and is currently in loving hands. His owners however didn't appreciate what owning a Patterdale can involve. They are looking for a more relaxed and fluent dog. Rocky is bringing it all together, but his basic instincts are still excited and he has yet to learn to bring them under control. Rocky is a great Patterdale with a loyal and loving nature. He needs confident management around other dogs and children. He meets both well when guided, but couldn't live with either unless in experienced hands. Rocky is precious and now needs a terrier family who manages exits and introductions as second nature and then Rocky will begin to relax and become skilled.

Bailey | Jack Russell Terrier

Bailey, Jack Russell, wirehaired non-moult, DOB 10.08

Homing Requirement: Bailey is a great terrier, but needs understanding. He needs an adult or older children family that are dog savvy. He needs a secure terrier proof garden to ensure his safety. He had 'itchy' skin, but it was treated and died back. Non-moult.

His Story: Bailey has been owned from a puppy. He is used to being left in the mornings and then has 'grandparent company' in the afternoons. A baby is due and Bailey has never been trusted around very young children so needs a new family. Bailey is neutered, vax'd and chipped.

Advert: Bailey is an all-round terrier with good looks on top! He came through his adolescence and is now a well trained and an obedient terrier. He has always been cared for and any issues, like itchy skin, has been treated successfully through his insurance cover. So here is the fella who knows so many commands and likes to meet and greet visitors and dogs with the best of terrier manners.

Bailey is white and tan ... and has a 'non-moult' coat. Yes he does lose some fur, but not quite the snow effect of most 'Jacks'. He is happy in company and comfortable in his own space too. He did bite once when woken from a sleep, but has been respected since and all has been well. This however has meant the family can't really trust him with a crying baby or crawling toddler so as baby is due in September, Bailey is looking for a new terrier family. We judge him as a great terrier who had a good start and will complete a family into a terrier family!

Please visit Bailey's thread, in Dogs needing homes in Terriers Nationwide on our Forum http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra39067.php#39067 to find out more about him and follow his progress.

Melody | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Melody, Staffie, DOB 08.09 - High Wycombe, Bucks

Homing Requirements: Melody needs a stable family with not too busy a household. She needs routine, predictability and patience. Melody was found stray with very little trust in humans, so her humans need to be sensitive to her needs and to develop her slowly in confidence and skills. Ideally Melody should live with another confident dog. Ideally no holiday kennelling unless a rarity. Melody needs to be homed within London or the surrounding counties area.

Her Story: Melody was found stray in a frightened state and being in kennels didn't help, but she did find a sense of sanctuary in her kennel. Her instincts were to fear, yet longing to trust and build loving, meaningful and loyal relationships. In foster she is leaving some of that feral fear behind. Time will heal if the environment (physical and social) are right. Melody is now spayed, chipped and vax'd.

Advert: Melody is a young 1 year old Staffie who has a gentle loving nature with a open big heart. She is building confidence in areas of her life which is being greatly helped through the tuition of her foster brother. Melody is emerging and, as we are seeing her beauty and splendour take shape within a sensitive and caring foster home, we smile in delight. Melody is forging positive relationships, whilst more skilled in her relationships with dogs, being a Staffie her people are her 'world'.

Melody is white 'pied' with brindle spots. A strong head in profile with tender and shy eyes. Melody is beginning to walk tall, as her demeanour was repressed. She now seeks confidence through her companions and is beginning to forget her old self! Melody needs a special home that knows harmonious relationships within the family and enjoys an active social lifestyle. Melody's tune is unique and so melodic!

Bryony | Boxer

Bryony, Boxer x Am Bulldog, DOB 09 - Gatwick, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Bryony needs a family familiar with large dog breeds. She needs a fair sized secure garden with no right of way by others. She seems settled in herself and prepared for being left for short periods. She needs to explore her own energy and learn to lead walking. Unassessed for cats and small furries. She may well live with another dog as she is happy and relaxed in dog company.

Her Story: Found Stray as a young dog, she is neutered, chipped and being vax'd.

Advert: Bryony has a really friendly nature She wants to meet and wants to love. She is currently in kennels, what a waste! If she was another breed type she would have been snapped up in a heart beat. She is a large dog … the size of a Labrador. Bryony is around 18 month old with almost a puppy energy still present which adds to her delight. She is attentive to commands; listening well. In the right hands her energy will be easily trained and tuned. Bryony loves dogs and her instinct is to meet and lick their muzzles. Obviously she needs to be retained on a lead until she has been thoroughly trained as she will have some members of the public jumping into bushes at first sight! She will win friends easily though.

Bryony is a delight and we are so happy to be able to help her in her hour of need. This is a dog who will be admired by her future family and paraded at the vets and in the park for the sweet natured girl she is. She needs a dog experienced person behind her to help her settle and focus her energy. She is in good health and is very, very luvvable!

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Spice | Parson Jack Russell Terrier

Spice, Parson's Jack Russell, DOB 11.09 - Farnham, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Spice needs a terrier experienced family who are going to respect his needs as a 'working type' terrier and work with him in partnership to build his trust. Spice would do best living with other dogs, but no cats or small furries/feathers.

Spice needs to be around aware adults and needs a non-confrontational approach, ideally distraction, to lead into desired behaviours. Aim: he gains continual approval and 'good boys' shaping his behaviour. If pushed or overexcited he can nip. Not to live or be unsupervised around young children.

His Story: Spice was found stray in April. He was saved from the pound by the kennel owner and terrierrescue have taken on his care and rehoming. He was homed briefly, but couldn't cope with knowing there were caged rats in the house.

Advert: Spice is a super looking terrier who is 'hot' and game for fun. He will create his own entertainment so a sense of humour is required to delight in his antics. Don't take him too seriously or take his mistakes personally. We are looking for a family who really 'get' terriers and understand the main task is to develop Spice's repertoire of skills so he engages in meaningful dialogue rather than resorting to retort. He is by nature extremely loving.

Spice is a easy mixer with dogs and really needs at least one other companion to share his life with and to offer him a role model "stay cool; treat them like this and the cheese pieces just flow”! Spice needs a dog centered family where his needs are foremost, whilst not allowing him to call the tune. He is fun to walk on an extender and as he matures will learn to gauge his excitement levels and feelings of joy. Care should be taken when he meets children inside and outside with his energy kept calm and all contact supervised, as his instincts are still a little feral. Lovely, lovely Spice needs a warm bed of rice to soften and relax on.

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Tizer | Cross Breed (Medium)

Tizer, Crossbreed, DOB 06.09 - Caversham, Reading

Homing Requirements: Tizer is a young cross breed with some Staffie in. He needs a family who are conscious of his needs and recognizes that some public have prejudice, but we are confident that Tizer will soon put them at their ease. Tizer could live with children and/or another dog. Tizer is an excellent family dog who needs his own secure garden with 6 foot paneling and an active lifestyle.

Video of Tizer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Pg_NyTLvdw

His Story: Tizer was found stray and unclaimed. Kennel staff loved him and tried so hard to find him a rescue place. Tizer is now neutered, chipped and being vax'd.

Advert: Tizer came into rescue in early June and we bought him into our care in mid June. He was very stressed in kennels and managed to get in with 2 neighbouring dogs to say ‘hello’ in a friendly way. He has been fostered with Charlotte, a companion who is a little resentful of his presence in her home, but she is coming around to him. They mix well outside and he is having a wonderful time in foster. Tizer meets all dogs well outside. Tizer is smaller than his pictures make him look, Charlotte is tiny!

Tizer has a lovely playful energy, but soon settles down and sleeps in 'down time'. He can be left without event. Currently walked on a gentle leader which has taken the pull out of his walking. Tizer is housetrained, command trained and although a little mouthy he soon stops when calmed. A really good dog who will make a fabulous family dog or second family dog.

Martin | Staffie Cross

Martin, Staffie x, DOB 06 09 - Farnham, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Martin needs a family geared to a young emotional and super friendly dog. A Staffie who still needs to learn to tame his own energies and calm his gusto for life which as he matures will flow. Martin could live with children, but has no experience of living with very young children. Martin would enjoy the company of another dog who was accomplished. Martin does need 6 foot panel fencing and beware … he can manage door levers!

His Story: A familiar story of 2 litter brothers well trained and deeply loved, but began to squabble as they reached maturity. Neither at fault and probably both could settle with another dog, but same age, energy levels and emerging dominance of litter mates, meant Martin lost his home. Martin is chipped and neutered. He is due his booster vax.

Advert: Martin is a fine dog who has been loved and well socialised in his first year. He mixes with other dogs inside his house, others houses and outside. Martin is retained on a lead when there are others around as he still meets with gusto and enthusiasm. Martin is just at that age where his energy begins to settle a little and become more under his conscious control.

Martin is quite a small Staffie Well proportioned and healthy. He has a lovely Staffie head and a soft, soft coat. He knows basic commands and is well mannered. He can be a little mouthy still. Martin is ever conscious of his pack's whereabouts, but does settle and can be left for short periods. Martin isn't barky and can get a little frightened by thunder etc.; a bit of a scardy 'cat'! Adores his walks and despite the recent upheaval has adapted well to change, but can't wait to find his new family and to 'polish-off' his skills and fulfill his promise.

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Charlie | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Charlie, Staffie, DOB 08 - Sandwich, Kent Coast

Homing Requirements: Handsome young Staffie who is well trained and mannered. Tries to please. Charlie is higher energy, so needs an active lifestyle with a fair sized garden. Needs a companionship home; enjoys meeting dogs and could possibly live with another. Too excited for cats needs discipline around the street so he doesn’t chase. Doesn't do well in kennels.

His Story: Charlie was found stray and went unclaimed. He was homed briefly, but due to his owners recent ill health Charlie is not getting the amount of exercise he needs. Charlie is neutered, chipped and vax'd.

Advert: Charlie has STAR qualities ... he creates a stir and has proved himself to be a lovely family dog, fostered with 5 children who are used to dogs.  He can be a little wary of strangers so work men need to be properly introduced. Charlie doesn't like to be overcrowded initially until he settles and know people, then all is fine. He has been practicing heel walking with a short lead around streets, with awareness if cats are around and not allowed to lunge or chase them. He needs a training line or extender in open places so he can run and also meet dogs in a controlled manner.

Charlie is just a great dog. He has a cheeky look in his eyes and if he oversteps the mark, he is aware what he is allowed to get away with. He soon made it clear - Chips are his favourite food! With a little prep. Charlie settles well in new situations; he may enjoy living with another dog, but for sure he'd love to be the apple in your eye! He travels well in the car. Charlie can be left for short periods, but you won't want to! So if you are active and can offer Charlie a dog centered life ... apply within!

Smiler | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Smiler, Staffie, DOB, ?05 - Godalming, Surrey

Homing requirements: Smiler could be homed with another dog. He needs a family who can stand there for him as an older Staffie with all the Staffie prejudice you meet. He meets most dogs well outside, but can get flustered so confidence behind his lead keeps the boat steady. Not for small furries (Hamsters OK), small dogs or cats. Can be left, not an "off lead" dog as introductions need to be supervised, but he is good in the car.

His Story: Smiler was found stray together with a Staffie bitch. She was homed separately from the pound. We couldn't see him all alone in his kennel so squeezed him in! He is in fostered with a crossbreed pup. Smiler has been up for the play, be it ‘controlled'. Smiler came in neutered and chipped. He has begun vax.

Advert: Smiler will have you smiling. He has a certain twinkle in his eye as he follows you around, gainfully employs himself is any activity on offer or entertains himself with a ball or a toy. Chuckle you will and chuck his ball you will ... and he'll enjoy the chase and really relate to the fun aspect. Smiler meets dogs well with confidence behind him, but can get over excited by little dogs so he needs to be retained on a lead and introductions controlled through voice and brisk continuity of direction on his walk; then he refocuses on the blue horizon.

Smiler is an older Staffie who about 5 years old with a little greying on his muzzle. A smaller brindle Staffie who will bond in with his family deeply and they will delight in his little character. He loves his walks, but settles easily on return. He isn't food focused, but enjoys the drama of treats and takes them very gently. He loves cuddles and face washes in return if allowed. What more could you ask for!

Pebbles | Staffie Cross

Pebbles, Staffie x, DOB Nov. 09 - Basingstoke, Hants

Homing Requirements: Pebbles needs a home with either her mother, who she is currently living with, or another dog. She needs to find herself as she has never been separated from her mum. She also needs basic training and lead training. She has grown up with toddlers, other pups, her mum and cats.

Her Story: Pebbles has just left her family home with her mother as they weren't wanted anymore. She has been well treated, but her potential not fully appreciated. She and her mother spent a lot of time in a large crate in the dining area. She needs help to discover herself as an individual. Pebbles is spayed, vax'd and chipped.

Advert: Pebbles could have been called Bubbles. She is a delightful character, so desperate to please and so ready for fun. She needs to discover life, but on a social level she is fluent with people, children, cats and dogs. She needs confidence being walked on a lead and to find her sense of self-independence from her mother.

Pebbles is just a pup really. She has had her mother's calming influence and her fosterers are discovering she can settle when walked alone or left whilst her mother is on a walk. Oh but how excited she is when she returns! Pebbles isn't going to be a rolling stone … she is going to become stable and statured into a beauty to behold.

Jess | Labrador Cross

Jess, Labrador x Staffie, DOB 07 - Basingstoke, Hants

Homing Requirements: Jess deserves a dog centred family where she can experience fun, laughter and gain further skills. She needs a secure garden. She has lived successfully with other dogs and very young children. Although she lived with cats they were always a source of fun, but then perhaps she had nothing better to attract her attention.

Her Story: Jess was homed as a pup in with a young family with toddlers upwards. She grew up with cats and a year ago was bred from producing 14 pups around November. She went into distress after her 13th and she needed a caesarean and found she had a dead pup in her. She reared her pups as a good mum. Her owners retained a female pup Pebbles who she is currently living with. They were both neutered by us 1 month ago. They have now both come into rescue with us and are in foster. She is Benson's mum who is also in our Rescue. Jess is neutered, chipped and vax'd.

Advert: Jess is a beautiful dog. Large in size and gentle in nature. She has a really wonderful vibe and is welcoming in meeting all people and dogs. Living with her pup has rejuvenated her and they have played and have a really lovely relationship. Jess could be homed with Pebbles or could join another dog. She needs to be developed and given training and attention. Her social skills are fine.

Jess is such a special dog.  Everyone who meets her appreciates that and although she is a big girl with that comes manners and reserve. She has spent a lot of her day being tidied up into a crate. We are now able to look for a family who are centered around her needs. Her family simply wanted her and her daughter gone! Jess will delight and, provided you are confident around large dogs, Jess will be a superb addition to any family.

ScoobyLou | Cross Breed (Medium)

ScoobyLou, Crossbreed, DOB 10.09, Farnham, Surrey

Homing Requirements: ScoobyLou needs a family to truly appreciate her and her energy as a dog of under a year old. She needs an inclusive and active lifestyle. She has learnt not to jump up and meets well with this reinforced. She needs a fair size garden, secure panel fencing and exit management as any medium sized dog would. Ideally her owners should attend training classes as a refresher to give her the best start.

Her Story: ScoobyLou was found stray as a young dog. She was homed for 1 week but the wife recognized herself as "not a doggie" person and she was returned. ScoobyLou proved herself in a home setting as she has with us, mixing easily with dogs and people. ScoobyLou is neutered, vax'd and chipped.

Advert: ScoobyLou isn't just a pretty face; she is intelligent with it. Alert and attuned, she seeks to please and receives guests and makes friends with an welcoming air. She has such star appeal; there is no denying it. ScoobyLou is like a beautiful doll with her beautiful eyes melting your heart on meeting.

ScoobyLou should never have lost her home as she is a dog who you are just never going to let out of your sight. But not only did she lose her home, she sat unclaimed too. Wonders will never cease. Somehow you know ScoobyLou was worth a lot more than they were ever going to give her. A family will come forwards for her and love her for the rest of her days. May she have many wonderful days and years ahead. She can’t wait to get started.

Milly | Staffie Cross

Milly, Staffie x, DOB 02.08, Farnham, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Milly needs a dog conversant family and to live with a male neutered dog. She needs to regain her confidence outside in her new territory. She will soon settle into the much loved and loving family dog that she is destined to be.

Her Story: Milly started life sleeping in someone's car. Was taken in to join a family with a male Boxer and enjoyed an inclusive lifestyle. Six months later she came into season and the rest is her sad history. They had 10 pups who all had super temperaments.  We know as 4 of them came into rescue. After an incident between 5 unneutered dogs (Dad, mum and 3 x 1 year old siblings!), the family decided to keep dad and daughter making Milly and sons homeless. Milly was homed as an only dog, but lost her confidence; she is now happy being back amongst other dogs again. Milly is spayed, vax'd and chipped.

Advert: Milly is a 2 year old black and brindle Stafford. She is beautiful to behold both in looks and temperament. She lives to love and has successfully lived with children 10 year+ and could live with younger. She has put 4 paws down though requesting a male dog companion (never 2 bitches together).

Milly is an easy going dog once settled and comfortable.  She has lived with cats, but if the cats are nervous of dogs she may take a while to accept and not chase. She is used to a low dog density setting. She is in good health. Her pointed ears make her look alert and keen in everything she pursues. She always enjoys a cuddle and is used to sleeping on her master's bed. Milly so deserves to find her family and begin to enjoy life again.

Rickie | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Rickie, Staffie, DOB 05.08, Gatwick, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Rickie is a wonderful family dog as an only pet. He needs a family who are confident outside with Staffies. He hasn't had that so far. He has had lots of experience living with very young children and though he can be bouncy, his instincts are kind and loving. Rickie has always slept on the bed and obeys boundaries when given. Rickie is a larger Staffie so probably would benefit from a Gencon or Halti to soften him on the lead initially. Gentle intros with dogs to develop his self confidence. He is in good health and travels in a crate, but has worked his way out by rattling the crate gently so he could get the door open; clever dog - poorly designed crate!

His Story: Rickie was bred and sold to a man who was seen to beat him ... he returned him to the breeder, whose daughter took him in temporarily. Living with her children and cat. This is the only cat he has ever accepted. They then found him a home with very young children as an only pet. This suited Rickie, though they never walked him. We will be neutering Rickie and chipping him. He is fully vax'd. Rickie still has a puppy look and innocent feel about him although he is only 2 years old.

Advert: Rickie isn't quite the boss of the office ... his confidence is fine within the parameters he has known, but now he is ready to expand his horizons. Rickie has lead quite a sheltered life though he had always been loved. He has always lived with children and is a great friend to adults too. He hasn't been walked for nearly a year in his old home so we are reintroducing him to meeting dog and he is doing so with a smile on his face and awkwardness in his step just like 'being the new boy on the dance floor'!

Our judgment of Rickie is that he is very well meaning, just a little gushing and needs to relax and tone down his energy which walks and company will do. A model dog in the house. Rickie loves his toys and company. He has a beautiful orange brindle coat, is young and ready to learn.

Alfie | Fell Terrier

Alfie, Fell Terrier, DOB 11.07 - Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Homing Requirement: Alfie needs a family who understands terriers and have a lifestyle that can offer him occupation and fun. He is excitable around children and when visitors come, so ideally a child free living environment, but visitors welcome with supervision of energy levels. He can be left and is dog friendly.

His Story: Alfie is in his 2nd home having lost his first home due to change of circumstances. Now an only dog, but he has lived with other dogs before. Alfie is neutered, vax'd and chipped. His current owners want to start a family, but are aware that Alfie wouldn't cope with young children.

Advert: Alfie has had the time of his life in his current home. He has a bronze training award and has enjoyed agility. A treasured pet indeed and a terrier to his paw tips. His owners have learnt a lot about terriers and it has been a 2-way learning curve. Alfie is well, but can suffer skin allergy with grass pollen. Alfie copes with being left and an active lifestyle, apart from a few grumbles and excitable moments here and there. Par for the course with terriers.

Alfie is an adorable lad who approaches life with bravo, but also has the dog skills to enjoy social encounters. He could live with another dog, but needs a child free living environment as many terriers prefer. Supervised and managed he will be a fun dog for visiting children, but has attitude and would lose it if his energy was whipped up beyond his control with running children and laughter etc.  Alfie is managed well and has only had a few nips at clothes when overexcited. Alfie is typical of his breed, but comes highly trained and socialized. What a GEM! Alfie is currently in Derbyshire.

MacTarn | Patterdale Terrier

MacTarn, Patterdale, DOB May 07

His Story: Found stray May08. Homed for 1 year with an older lady but he had a tussle with a dog that rushed at him and she couldn't continue. Needs terrier experienced home wonderful example of the breed. Neutered; vax'd and chipped.

Homing Questionnaire: All MacTarn needs a 'feet on the ground' terrier home. MacTarn meets dogs well but kept on lead and we just keep walking... as quite novice in his dog skills. Only pet status. Excellent to be left part time hours. Housetrained. Needs harmonious family; Loving but too terrier to live with children. Not for kennels hols: had a lifetime of kennels.

Advert: MacTarn is a classic Patterdale Terrier the real MacCoy! Arrived into rescue in May 08 in poor condition and came to us in May 09 having had an incident with a dog (after a whole year!) He was loved, cared for and proved himself to be a great companion. He can mix with dogs outside if given gentle intros, retained on an extender as deaf in the field! Bright, intelligent, lively Patterdale who to the experienced owner will delight..he is "the business!"

MacTarn simply needs a terrier owner, confidence down the lead. He is very personable character as Patterdales are, which makes them delightful to own. He is a dear and a terrier, through and through. He loves the car. He is young, in good health and awaits his new family, what a treasure...Inquisitive, bright and always smiling! LOVE HIM!

Frankie | Cross Breed (Medium)

Frankie, Staffie x Labrador, DOB 11.05

Homing Requirements:  Frankie needs a family where they have time for him, can enjoy his wonderful temperament and love his companionship. Only pet and not for cats or small furries. Needs secure garden with 5-6' panel fencing.

His Story:  Frankie has been owned since a puppy. He lives as part of a young family as an only dog with a now 2 year old child and one on the way. Frankie is neutered and vax'd his family will wait until his right home comes up.

Advert: Frankie is pale yellow in colour, 5 years old with a mellow air. He has always coped with his owners working full time; he is fully housetrained and stays in the kitchen. He adores the sofa, but they have been renewed and is now on there at invite only. He sleeps beside the bed of a night. Frankie enjoys his walks, but can be wary of other dogs since he was attacked as a young dog. His owner just calls him into sit and the other dog can pass by; most dogs he is quite neutral towards. Kept on an extender lead, shortened around streets and with dogs off lead. Enjoys car travel.

Frankie loves his family, loves to play and tempers his reaction to the actual person he is playing with. Frankie has been fine around the toddler, but his family say they get tired of telling the toddler to leave him as it seems focused on him continually and would find it waring to manage another toddler on top of the current situation in a small house. Frankie could live with young children again with a dog aware person who uses their voice to check and keep all happy. Frankie is not food or toy possessive in anyway. Frankie will make a lovely family pet.

Rosie | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Rosie, Staffie, DOB 08.03

Homing Requirements:  Rosie needs a family with Staffie experience accepting that Rosie is living with children, dog and chickens, but doesn't like dogs in her face. She needs a less busy lifestyle related to her nature rather than her age. Skin issue re grass allergy, but may subside on return to a more urban area.

Her Story:  Rosie grew up within her family living with a Labrador, very young children and chickens. She has moved into a rural setting and her skin flared up. It's now controlled through medication, but her owners are convinced that in a more urban setting it would settle back down again. She isn't getting the daily walks she needs as a new baby has arrived and she is looking for a family who can offer her more time.

Advert: Rosie has managed very well within a busy, lively young family with dogs coming and going and children playing etc. She adores people and children's company. She manages with dogs, but really, as with her breed, would prefer to focus on her "people". Rosie has good basic command training and has been attending weekly training to maintain her fluency with dogs. She is a star and her trainer rates her as an excellent dog, but instinctively it is felt she would happier in a less busy family.

Rosie is a dear. She is now 7 years old and needs a family who can offer her fun in the next half of her life; hopefully she will have another 7 years to retire into. She is excellent with children and to a Staffie experienced family a dream. She is mellow, yet fun ... she is often exercised next to the bicycle. Rosie's family will retain her until the right home is found; with people who can understand her Staffie roots and rejoice in her beauty and evident skills.

Billy | Patterdale Terrier

Billy, Patterdale, DOB 08.09

Homing Requirement: Billy needs a terrier family to build on his tentative new skills within a new set of circumstances. He is young and has already achieved so much, but now he is a crucial age to round off his adult temperament.

His Story: Billy was discarded and taken in by a farmer at 7 months; his current family took him in to avoid a kennelled life in early April. He settled with their older crossbreed dog and elderly dog savvy cat. 2 weeks into his homing he had a terrible scare when a neighbour's new dog came into his house and went for him and his canine partner. Since then he has lost his nerve meeting new dogs and his family have concluded he needs a family who are used to terriers to allow him to regain his confidence in a new setting whilst he is so young. Currently living the rural life with 4 adult household. Billy is neutered and vax'd

Advert  Billy is 10 months old & came to his current family and settled in with their dog and cat. He meets people well, but of course can get excited. Following an incident, he has been frightened of meeting incoming dogs, despite best efforts. He can't seem to forget and fixates on the adjoining fence with the next-door dog.  He is tolerant of viewing livestock through fencing, but would chase if let off lead. Billy walks well on the lead and is playful with incumbent dog. He is housetrained. He enjoys the car.

Billy is a wirehaired Patterdale with a tight curly coat. He is young and has the affectionate nature of the Patterdale. He needs to lose his defensiveness around other dogs which is newly acquired, but is just at his formative teenage period. In the right hands, with a new setting he can lose his apprehension.

Louis | Patterdale Terrier

Louis, Patterdale, DOB 05.02

Homing Requirement: Louis needs a terrier experienced family without young children; he could live with another dog. Louis needs a terrier proof garden and to be retained on a lead whilst out. He needs terrier management during excitable events like post delivery or joggers passing close by.

His Story: Louis has been owned since a pup and has grown up with children in their late teens. He has had his moments like many terriers, but the family are now wary as a daughter visits daily with her baby and they cannot trust Louis around the grandchild as is general with working type terriers.

Advert  Louis is a handsome dog who has a gentle nature and is a loved family pet. He has been a treasured family pet and his terrorisms' have been accommodated and 'honed in' with an aware family. He is managed on a lead and generally is good on his walks unless he encounters too much excitement, like a cyclist coming too close. He mixes well with dogs and befriends them, given gentle introductions to build trust. He has dog friends around in his house and he also stays with a dog minder whilst his family have holidays. He could live with another dog. Louis is neutered and vax'd.

Louis is a really good example of the Patterdale, has had a stable background and is able to be left for periods without event. He travels well in the car. Louis however hasn't been around very young children and copes with respectful aware visitors, but would behave 'like a terrier' with running or crying children around. A new baby is visiting daily. The family have to find an alternative home for him where he can relax and not be 'put out of the way' as a risk management strategy. Louis makes a wonderful family pet and presents as an easy terrier to an experienced terrier home. He is loving, sleeps in his bed in the bedroom and generally is there with his family, involved in any activity on the go!

Branston | Cross Breed (Medium)

Branston, Crossbreed, DOB 12.09

His Story: Branston was found stray and taken into a vet who kept him for 3-4 days with posters around convinced someone would come and find him ... he then went into the council pound and ran out of time ... we have taken him on as a 5-6 month old pup. He is fostered, gaining lots of training and socialisation.

Homing requirements: Branston is a young whippersnapper ... pup. He is kind by nature, but bouncy too. We are looking for a stable family who are going to offer him clear boundaries and reinforce consistent messages, supported by training classes. Would suit first time dog owners, but life style must centre around his needs.

Advert: Branston might have got into a pickle, but he is fast coming out the other side. He has a loving, highly sensible family in the wings just waiting to find him and offer him the head start his foster family have begun to offer. Branston is quick to learn and his housetraining though needing attention is practically there, but his fosterers are ever 'alert' to his signs and ever encouraging when he has been a good boy. Branston is sharing with another dog and now learning to tone down his enthusiasm and learning that other adult dogs may need a relationship on their terms.

What a good boy and you know what Branston and Cheese is a wonderful and highly effective combination and a winner every time! He is saying 'cheese' and what a smile he has, to brighten up your days, but be aware that a Staffie cross pup is hard work and the word 'boisterous' comes to mind, 'full on' and 'ever so kind!' So you will need your sleeves rolled up and trainers by the door ... better buy some wellies!

Candy | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Candy, Staffie, DOB 03

Her Story:  Candy is an older little lady maybe 6-7 years old who came from being found stray and unclaimed. She has had pups in her past life. She is in good health and we have now spayed & chipped her and she had a full dental with several teeth removed.

Homing Requirements:  Candy is an easy dog on all accounts. She needs her family NOW! as it is so sad to see her suffer in kennels. We are unsure how she will be being left as she is stressed in kennels ....so are really looking for a companionship home with someone around most of the time. Secure garden. Visiting children and well behaved live in children could be an option as her energy is receptive and is not highly excitable.

Advert:  YOU have got to love this one!!! Candy is sweetness and joy. She is guaranteed to keep a smile on your face and upon meeting her new owners will be in love with her 'til death do us part'. She would suit someone who works from home and needs an excuse to have a walk rather than raid the fridge. She would suit a first time dog owning family who are mature and well thought out and want to help a Staffie in need. In fact, she would suit most combinations other than multiple pet households or very young children mauling her too much. Respectful children yes she will love- this is what she is!

Candy is a little Staffie, walks nicely on the lead at a nice pace, meets people with great warmth and dogs just fine. She enjoys her walks, but doesn't enjoy kennels ... so ideally not for kennelling whilst you enjoy warmer climes. Pretty and true hearted ... that's our gal!

Maggie | Cross Breed (Medium)

Maggie, Shepherd x Rottie, 1-2 years old

His Story: Found recently puppied and stray in parkland. Owner came forwards, but didn't think Maggie was worth the claim-back fee! Finder came forwards and after we had assessed and spayed her she was homed. Homing hasn't worked as now 2 young dogs are playing with concerns for their elderly frail dog.

Homing Requirements:  Maggie is a large dog, fluent with people, children, dogs and cats. She is playful. Maggie requires an active lifestyle which centres around her needs in contrast to her difficult beginnings.

Advert: Maggie is Magnificent and we're just not saying it she has proved it!' A Shepherd x possibly Rottie which is a fabulous mix. She has a loving vibe, intelligence and sincerity. Since she came into our care and she has been spayed and on a good diet she has blossomed in health. She can be wary of certain situations, but as her horizons open she embraces life and gains in confidence and is assured.

Maggie is currently living with young children, 2 dogs and cats. She travels well in a car, walks well on a lead and hasn't put a paw wrong. Her family hadn't considered that, whilst they had got her to offer their young dog fun and companionship, they would now be concerned that the 2 young dogs might unintentionally hurt their frail dog when they play. So Maggie is looking for a new home ... her forever home and she is such a catch ... you'll offer your heart to her forever on first meet!

Judy | Patterdale Terrier

Judy, Patterdale x, DOB 07.01

Her Story Judy came to her family after she wasn't getting on with living with an elderly lady's 2 dogs. She was neutered young, never bred from. She has grown alongside an older child. Her current owner is seriously ill so seeking a new home for her.

Homing requirements Judy needs to be an only pet with people who understand terriers. She is used to free range access to furniture and beds and needs a home who accepts this of her. She can need encouragement off on occasions.   She is walked on an extender and her current owners have never fully trusted her with dogs. Only pet home.

Advert Judy is an 8 year old terrier, black and tan with Patterdale in her parentage. She is a loving dog whose terrier ways are now difficult for her owners to manage with family illness. She gets 4 walks a week and is controlled via an extender lead. There have been no incidents with dogs and she really loves her walks, but the family are cautious. Judy has never been a problem being left for long periods with free range access of home and can like to stake her claim on the bed.

Judy is a terrier who just needs to be managed, loved and understood. She would love a home where she is understood and given a doggie life with regular walks and companionship. She enjoys her toys and car travel, but gets frightened with thunder storms. Lovely girl who is ready to move homes and can offer companionship and a great lifestyle. So if you understand terriers and they make you laugh ... Judy is looking for her family to offer them a smile and an active lifestyle!

Cracker | Parson Jack Russell Terrier

Cracker, Parsons Jack Russell, 1 year old

His Story: Cracker was found stray in mid winter 2009.

Salient points:  Confident amongst animals and builds strong bonds with playful exchange with some dogs. Reticent in his relationships with humans, needs space and no confrontation. Cracker likes to just be, enjoying his pack and walks. He does sit on furniture and we would like that for him in his home. Must be homed with at least another dog and possibly cats.

Advert:Cracker is about 1 years old and is a cracker. He is a young lad who came to us terrified from the pound and scared in kennels. He went into foster with small furries, cats and dogs and oh yes his confidence 'glowed'. He is still reticent with people and so needs a quiet household where there is very little pressure on him. A multi-dog household ideally with cats would suit him, just fine. He would prefer not to live with children, but as trust builds may do well with visiting known children.

Cracker is a Parson's Jack Russell who may have had a cruel or neglectful puppihood. He has a very gentle endearing side to his nature. Doggie people will sense what degree of 'space' he needs and he does make overtures to receive love. So Cracker is requiring a 'multiple dog home with cats and a routine for him to relate to. He would not like to go into kennels whilst you are away. He wants to be quite low key, certainly not the centre of attention. He is finding his feet, but it will take time and meanwhile he is fostered in South London and loved.

Scally (wag!) | Patterdale Terrier

Scally(wag), Patterdale, 2 years old

His Story: Scally was found stray in Wales.

Salient points:  Delightful terrier a true rough diamond who both entertains and surprises, 'his own man' and generally nicely mannered.  Not naturally a 'lap dog', but laps up attention as he builds trust.  Scally currently needs confidence behind him on an extender lead as he learns to gently greet dogs, reading and adjusting to social cues. He has had terrier moments with other dogs in new situations, so his owner needs terrier experience and to instill assurance. On the whole meets dogs well.

Advert: Scally is good looking, young and ready to take life by storm. He is in his prime, but still picking up his skills, so learning manners and decorum. Scally really is up for adventure and struts bravely into situations charming to all. Most dogs are friends on first meeting, but he has had the odd altercation so if you are able to accept 'dogs will be dogs' and further his socialisation, he'll soon polish those facets..and rub along with most, sparkling like true diamonds do. Welsh dogs are rarely formally walked so we think he just needs exposure and etiquette. Scally shouldn't live with children, but will mix well with visiting respectful children.

Scally had been fostered for long weekends with another terrier as he isn't too keen on kennels. He has been delightful and shown a soft , affectionate side to his terrier ways. Developing trust and bonding well he certainly turns the heads and laps up the strokes and stokes up the laps on his terms! So Scally the entertainer, has an energy which is both containable and entertaining. Destined to be loved to bits by owners who accept the rough with the smooth ... fast becoming a smoothie!

Mr Darcy | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Mr Darcy, Staffie, 1-2 years old

His Story: Found stray and unclaimed.

Salient Points: Good all round dog/Staffie.

Advert: Mr Darcy is a brilliant Staffie, a gentleman ... gentle and kind. He loves life, his walks and meeting other dogs. We haven't been able to assess him in a domestic setting, but he is shining out in kennels as a 'must have dog'.

Mr Darcy is very handsome and in good health. He has just been neutered and is fully vax'd. What can we say ... the only issue we have had is he is a little concerned when a stranger approaches him in his kennel space, but a little growl and then you're friends. Mr Darcy is going to make a perfect friend for a worthy family.

Stuart | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Stuart, Staffie, 1-2 years old

His Story: Stuart was found stray in Wales and unclaimed.

Salient points:  Handsome young longer legged Staffie. Warm nature, receptive to people and meets dogs well. Unassessed in a domestic setting, but indications are that he is a well mannered dog.

Advert: Stuart has settled well with us and proved himself to be friendly and engaging to be with. He is a pleasure to walk and walks besides other dogs nicely. He will offer his owner a healthy lifestyle and doesn't appear over exciteable in response to activities around him. He travels well and did well meeting our vet.

Stuart has adjusted well to being in kennels, but oh so needs his own family. He bonds well with males and females and has everyone turning their head as he is out walking. Newly neutered and vax'd

Finlay | Patterdale Cross

Finlay,Terrier x, 1 year old

His Story: Finlay was found stray. He has keen chase instinct so will need to be retained on an extender to counteract this.

Salient points:  Finlay has a beautiful bluish taupe colouring; is young and alert. Appears to be a Patterdale Terrier with a touch of bull breed. (Some people believe Patterdales have bull breed in their genetics hence the loving nature!)  Good skills with dogs. Not for cats, small furries or fast movers.

Advert: Finlay is a beautiful dog with a good nature, but think terrier … enjoy, control and command! Terriers need understanding and management … training helps, but their instincts are keen and they are what they are - Terriers need to be respected and admired. Finlay is a soft terrier, conversant with dogs and great with people, but needs garden security, exit security to give him safety and care. Finlay will put his nose into things and did put his nose into another dogs kennel and suffered a ripped lip which has recovered well. Again ever the adventurer.

Finlay is a beautiful boy. He went astray once, but his future family won’t leave him out of their sight as he is so lovely. Daily walks and he'll settle and the rest of the day to potter around and enjoy a ray of sunshine or an interesting smell in the garden. Finlay is not hyper ... he is calm by nature.  Finlay needs TLC, a few ground rules and he'll be your perfect excuse to put on the wellies in rain or sit outside the pub and watch the day go by in sunshine before you track back to the comforts of home. Home sweet home ... just what we are looking for our precious Finlay.

Freddie | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Freddie, Staffie, 4-5 years old

His Story: Freddie went into a police station one day and was never picked up..the police really rated him and pursued finding him a rescue place. A vet nurse took the case up and Freddie came to brighten our days on January 10.

Salient points:  Medium sized dog who is very connected into his 'leader'. Majestic, wisened and all knowing. He takes all in his stride, but best as an only dog; no other pets because he is cool!

Advert:  Freddie is a taute coloured bigger Staffie cross with his distinctive pointed ears which give the impression of keen listening. Infact Freddie is attuned in his vision as well, seeing it all, but not passing judgement..just walking on by. Freddie looks on and tries to make sense of his life. His owner had no-one to stand there for his dog, but he has been a loyal companion and soon picks up friends on first meeting.  But Freddie is distinctive and just on looks alone you need confidence to take on this big softee! Freddie loves his walks and is not a puller..perhaps if he sees a cat.

Freddie needs TLC, a proper life which focuses on his needs and offers him a fireside and a garden to lie out in the sun. Freddie meets dogs well and doesn't react to dogs in the kennel block. Freddie is a one off - he looks tough, but on meeting you just meet a warm and slightly aloof dog who wants to be able to relax away from the kennels and sit beside you for strokes and maybe watch you whilst you work on your PC or prepare a meal. He can be left for short sessions. Freddie is a darling, we really rate him. He isn't a tough man's dog, he is just Freddie who'll offer his companionship and make you smile.

Ringo | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Ringo, Staffie, 4 years old

His Story:  Ringo was found stray in Ireland. It is very difficult to home Staffie's in Ireland and after 2 years in kennels we agreed to take him on and give him his best chance.

Salient points:  Ringo is a brindle Staffie with pointed ears. A friendly, calm and loving character. Has an old scar on his side which doesn't look like a fight scar they tend to be on the head and neck occassionally hind legs; must have been caught on something- no other scars. Meets dog nicely outside, but like Staffies more interested in people than dogs. Not off lead, but easily managed on lead.

Advert:  Ringo is a handsome Staffie who is gentle, kind and dotes on people. Here is part of his report having spent a day out of the kennels:

"We met a few other dogs around and Ringo was slightly interested, but no real problems and very keen to meet people. He seems to know 'Sit' and happily did it several times for us. He's got a lovely nature and his tail was wagging furiously whenever he ran up to us. In a short time he'd changed from the crazy energetic dog we got out of the kennel into a much more settled companion who enjoyed his walk and loved being around us."

He is a charmer and really has to be met to appreciate how his sharp ears just dont suit his soft character. If you've had a Staffie before, Ringo will be top of your list for sure. Yes people appeal and he is clean in his kennel so housetraining shouldn't take long to kick in. Sadly Ringo had a difficult beginning, but staffies do! Landlords don’t want dogs in their houses; no-one within a family takes on a Staffie and most rescues would rather not help a Staffie. They are the losers! Ringo is a gentleman to be sure - a firm favourite!

Shadow | Boxer

Shadow, Boxer x Staffie, 2 years old

His Story:  Shadow came to us from Yorkshire Nov 08. We have homed him twice, both times with very young children and he has excelled. However his first owner had a major operation and his current owner is starting full time work in January.

Salient points: Shadow needs stability and a family with bull breed experience to revel in his many gifts. Shadow needs companionship (at max. part time employment hours) with awareness to support him establish tolerance being left. Shadow enjoys being an only pet and enjoys company and being an integral part of his family.

Advert: Shadow is not only a very accomplished dog, with superb looks, but has a wonderful temperament thrown in. He is a "people dog" in principle, but mixes well with dogs outside given leadership and direction. He is very particary: engaging in play; enjoying fetch and adores children's company. He needs secure garden and an active regime. Shadow is neutered, vax'd and chipped.

Shadow is a great friend and a gentle soul. He needs to regain his former confidence with dogs following an incident when his owner bought another dog to live in his territory without the experience of managing 2 dogs. We mention this as he isn't as confident in mixing with dogs outside as he always was. In the right hands he should soon return his 'fluency' with dogs.  Shadow needs a stable family to love and enjoy his many wonderful attitibutes. A very special dog to our rescue. A wonderful family awaits him, we are sure, who can offer him the promise he so deserves.

Max | Lakeland Terrier

Max, Lakeland Terrier, DOB 8.05.06

His Story: Max is a pedigree Lakeland who was home bred and started his life inappropriately with toddlers, not walked and retained in a kitchen and garden. He was fostered by myself with 9 other dogs 3 years ago and he had a ball and proved himself to adore other dogs. He needs the company of other dogs to soften his energy as it easily becomes frustrated. Now failed in his home for biting in 'terrier moments' and needs 'terra firma' management.

Salient points: Max is fully accomplished on many levels. He can inadvertently bite in a heightened excited state, unless managed with extreme care to prevent, avoid and control. This is quite common in the breed. He needs to avoid situations where he can become hyper e.g. front door and window access, busy footpaths with cyclists, running children and traffic, be retained on a secure harness and lead.  No live-in children or visiting young children. Careful exit management.

Advert: Max is a beautiful Lakeland, who presents as angelic on most levels and in most situations. He is however a Lakeland terrier and his terrier moments occur when excited or startled. He is a dog who needs a calm home that 'gets' terriers and has an active lifestyle. He needs strategies of avoidance, prevention and what we call 'terra firma' management in moments of excitement as he will bite caught up in the moment. He has proved be a lovely affectionate boy who really enjoys his walks, food, games and cuddles. He is also fine at the vets/groomers and going into other people’s houses. Max has always been loved and is delight, a real joy.

Max has excellent people and dogs skills and has so much "joie de vivre". He needs a terrier home where his terrier moments are anticipated and managed. These tend to centre around 'post, passerby, cyclists, joggers or if startled. He would enjoy living with another dog so his energy is kept fluid, perhaps not another terrier! He is adorable, has made mistakes, but the rewards are many of just offering him calm, tactics and retaining him under control in situations so his access is restricted and his energies remain under his control. Max is a darling and in the right hands a true companion as he has no malice just can get caught up in the moment and the rest of the time ... is everything you could ever wish for.

Martin | Patterdale Terrier

Martin the Patterdale!

His Story: Martin was found stray in winter.

Salient points: Martin is a Patterdale.  He has keen hunt instincts and out on a walk he is 'at work'. Found stray, but neutered which denotes 1)caring past owners, or 2) owners trying to dampen terrierness, or 3) been through rescue in the past. Good health and quite young. Loves to play with toys and 'kills soft toys'. Unassessed in domestic setting.

Advert: Martin is a slender whippet type Patterdale.  Smooth coated and 'lythe'. He adores to be out and does the little terrier nips if a dog gets "too close too soon", but falls into walking alongside other dogs well. He isn’t reactive to dogs.  He is a tender soul and enjoys company. He tolerates other dogs either side of his kennel. His confidence will reflect his "lead" manager. Martin is still in assessment.

Martin is quite a character and everyone is endeared to him. He has the aloofness which comes with many terriers. We can’t wait to see him settled within a family and having a good life. He needs awareness when out on walks so he is retained on an extender and so is safe. He will settle well with dogs as long as he feels in control and know ‘You are’. So we are looking for a home who can love him and watch him take up his new life with admiration of his change of occupation into treasured pet.

Winnie | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Winnie Staffie DOB 09.08

Her Story: Found stray in season. Was reactive to dogs, but has settled now post season and spaying. Doesn't like kennels, bless her.

Salient points: Slender framed Staffie with heaps of charm. Distressed in kennels. Winnie needs a supportive home who have time i.e. at most part-time working. An only pet home, but meets dogs nicely outside.

Advert: Winnie was found stray at a young age in season. She has since settled and is receiving support in what are challenging times for her. She is very loving and will be the dog her new owners make her ... but she needs love, time and patience for her to settle in a caring setting.  Winnie had 2 weeks in a home and settled immediately into a loving dog relating to young children and was welcomed as a close member. She however escaped out the front door and rushed at a dog in her plight to run, as many dogs do. The family couldn't chance that happening again so she came back to us. Winnie is such a lovely dog and she has already come so far. She walks parallel with other dogs, settles and soon builds trust. Winnie needs to be an only dog as her dog skills are very elementary. She requires gentle introductions with reassurance coming through her lead. Innocence is the word that sums Winnie up.

So many people are coming forwards to offer Staffies their heart. Staffies are having a particularly challenging time, as being sensitive souls it isn't easy for them. Winnie is such a dog who has been dumped and is confused. Her instincts are to trust, to love and to learn from confident hands. She is young and she will settle.  She will bring her energies into focus and achieve skills. She is ready to be given that opportunity. She tries to settle in kennels, but kennels can't offer that next step. We will support Winnie, she will win through! She is a winner she is Winnie.

Rhona | Cross Breed (Medium)

Rhona, Cross breed, DOB 27/9/08

Her Story: Rhona was surrendered into Battersea as an 8 month old pup. We took her on as a mature young lady who had learnt to accept kennel life, but was hoping for much more. Short term foster Dec 09 with another dog and cats.

Salient points: Young cross breed, elegant, medium size dog. Lurcher type frame, but thankfully without the chase..she is in fact off lead; confidence improving with dogs inside and out....and cat friendly.

Advert: Rhona is so lovely. Yes, really lovely. Everyone who meets her finds an emergent smile appearing on their face. She has proved herself to be a very versatile dog in Battersea and since coming into our rescue she is picking up more merit badges with each passing day. Her foster brother taught her to 'chill' which she found a different experience to the 'chill' she had come to know in winter kennels. She has also learnt to play and to be more confident around dogs and people generally. In fact she is fostered with cats and teenagers.

Rhona has matured in kennels so her foster placement has allowed her to catch up on missing experiences and bring it all together. She made such wonderful advances in just a week and will make the most wonderful pet. In fact what else could you ask for in a dog? She offers everything. Yes she still is learning to respect living in a house again and has had the bin over a few times! She busted out of her crate when left intially, but proved 'hey you can trust me you truly can'. A few incidences will happen with any dog settling in but Rhona is almost there...where is there?... in with her own lucky family!

Buddy | Jack Russell Terrier

Buddy, Jack Russell Terrier, DOB 07.07

His Story: Buddy grew up in a tweeny family, but they were busy and following a separation it was clear Buddy had his own needs.

Salient points:  Buddy needs confidence behind him and sensitivity to his terrier makeup. He needs to build trust before you get too up close and comfortable with him. A terrier experienced person knows the terrier picks up on our vibes and relaxes according to our reassuring aire? Nippy can be, but a rariety; absent in trusted situations.

Advert: Buddy has the most wondrous colouring with a broken to wire coat..so a head turner. Born in July 07 ..yes 0707..007! He has found himself in rescue due to a marriage break up, but also having had owners who weren't confident around terriers generally so tended to keep him away from situations where his terrier ways came to the fore i.e. visitors. His enthusiasm in meeting certain dogs was a concern, but certainly in our care Buddy has gone from strength to strength with people that 'get him'. He meets dogs well though may occassionally grumble under his breath. But yes Buddy is of the ilk where grumpy old man might be laid on his shoulders as his fur greys.

Terriers; you love their character and work with it or shy away.  We are delighted to have this little man with us, but sooo wish more for him. Terrier people have a sense of humour and lack "the blame consciousness"..lots of forgiveness and analysis goes along the lines of 'OK so you don't like that my lad, we'll manage it a slightly different way next time..come on lets have a walk!' So Buddy is looking for an owner that doesn't take his serious character too seriously. An owner that lightens him up, understands Buddy so wants to have fun; so wants to love and trust, but is a little wary until the signs are clear..no worries lets play!

Amba | Cross Breed (Medium)

Amba, 1 year old cross

Her Story:  Found Stray as a very young dog, fostered for short durations now kennelled.

Salient points:  Could live with another dog and older children. Young energy: Highly trainable.  Needs fair-sized garden or open fields. Sensitive skin to chemicals and certain fabrics. Can 'leap kiss' catching clothes needs management technique to calm. Overshot jaw, but manages food well. She is smaller than her photos would have you believe.

Advert: Amba is a magnificent cross breed with a vibrant golden red coat. She stands elegant and runs with glee and spirit like the wind. She is just 18 months old and adapts well in new settings as long as her excited moments are calmed! She was fostered with 2 larger dogs male and female and learned manners, commands and had great fun, Amba also loved being up close and is comfortable with horses. She needs a good exercise regime with access to a sizeable garden to rebuild her confidence.  Amba is spayed, chipped and vax'd.

Amba loves to meet people, copes with busy social events and responds well to new situations. She is smallish, but her proportions are such in photos she tends to look twice her size. Amba..she is so lovely, fabulous cross breed with 'pharaoh hound' looks and an amazing personality. She can get a little excited so 2 long walks a day and she settles into an easy delightful and oh so loving dog. Amba has a huge fan club and on meeting you'll be capitivated!

Archie | Cross Breed (Large)

Archie, Shepherd x Collie, DOB 06.08

His Story:  Archie was found stray in a nervous state late January 2009 unclaimed. He was about 8 months old. His confidence has grown 100 fold since then and he has matured into a truly beautiful dog.

Salient points:  Archie now has confidence living within a pack of dogs with people coming and going.  Ideally needs to be homed with a confident dog or dog confident family. Submissive by nature.  Can react to dogs when out on lead outside as many Collie x Shepherds can do. Good with horses!

Advert:  Archie is 80% German Shepherd. He has the Shepherd long body, tail and muzzle ... even fur type.  His ears however suggest a complimentary influence perhaps Collie. He is young now around 18 months old. He is sensitive by nature!  Archie is a very loving dog who bonds deeply given a chance. He loves being out and about, very interested in everything and a really good boy. " A trip in the van and he loved sticking his head out of the window with the wind blowing his ears all over the place. He is very chilled at home and takes no notice of the horses, loves water - the hosepipe is one of his favourite games!  Fostered in Donnington Castle, but coming into the Gatwick kennels on the 28th.

Archie mixes well with dogs and his submissive nature shines through, they are pleased to have him around. Adapts well to new situations now. Archie is neutered, vax'd and chipped. If you love Shepherds and if you have met the Shepherd x Collie mix before, you'll know just how much you'll love Archie. He will train well and is intelligent. Sadly the only thing he needs work on is barking when he sees other dogs approaching outside, this can take time to eradicate, but he has achieved in other areas.  He is just looking for his forever home with a fab family and he loves being out and about or pottering at home. Superb dog.

Cassie | Staffie Cross

Cassie, Staffie x, 1-2 years old

Her Story: Found stray in early Dec and taken to a Staffie prejudiced pound. A group clubbed together to funded her release saving her life. The other 2 Staffies in the pound weren't so lucky.

Salient points:  Young and vibrant. Needs active life with training and occupation. Good natured. Meets dogs well. Secure garden and regime. Not for cats or small furries.

Advert:  Cassie is a beautiful Staffie cross. She has this long white sock which looks so different, as though she has come out in a rush and forgot to put the other on (perhaps she did). Cassie has abundance of personality and will have your extended family talking...can't wait to meet her. Older children would be in awe of her energy and "whow personality"..what a family dog. Oh see the smiles on visiting children's faces as they jump out of the car running towards the house "where's Cassie, where's Cassie!"  Her fame travels as she has some magic about her - as a therapy dog she will put people at their ease and gives them a sense of positivity and enthusiasm. She is a "no nonsense"/ "happy to see you, lets have fun"- dog. She doesn't have reactions to dogs and with the right dog would enjoy the companionship. Cassie is spayed, vax'd and chipped. Not for cats or small furries - far too interesting.

Cassie is a well proportioned dog in good health.  She is intelligent and ready to learn what is to be excepted of her. She'll soon be offering you her paw and doing your washing up!  Cassie needs occupation and an active life style. She has a special need a very secure garden as lurchers do so at least 6 ft pannel fencing ideally with a curved in fringe on top as she has a high prey drive.  Cassie also is ready devote herself to a strong minded and kind owner who will lead her, focus her and truly admire her many, many gifts. She will stay by your side for the rest of her life as that admired dog, who out-shines all other contestants! Cassie has been homed for several months, but comes back to us before Christmas.

Dior | Staffie Cross

Dior, Staffie x Hound, 18 months old

Her Story:  Found stray in Kent as a young ?1-2 year old crossbreed

Salient points:  Dior is houndy with a happy Staffie touch. She loves people and seems OK with dogs as far as our assessment has gone. Unassessed in a domestic situation.

Advert: Dior is a 'WHOW' a Super model as she stands and draws the attention to her remarkably beautiful body. Then she relaxes, smiles and comes over and becomes "just" the 'plain old cross breed' ... the girl next door! She has young energy which needs more attention, expression and tutoring. She needs to learn synergy within her family and relate to its routines and rhythm. She will; she is young, she just needs time and lots of "good girls" and treats indeed. Now spayed, chipped and beginning vax.

Dior needs a secure garden, occupation and care. She must have got into unloving hands to be found stray and unclaimed. She has so much love on offer ... and just needs a focus and she will win love through her goodness. She presents as having a fairly sound background; no 'issues' or baggage of great worth we feel. Ready like a young foal to learn the ropes and make 'the family pet' of a very worthy family.

Monty | Staffie Cross

Monty ?5 yr old

His Story:  Monty arrived in a Welsh pound chilled and joyous ....had no idea what a dangerous place he was in. Hey look he came out the other side!

Salient points:  Monty is great; not as old as his white muzzle would have you believe. Welcomes meeting other dogs. Great people dog who so loves his walks. Wonderful character and such a companion. Acute skin condition currently clearing.

Advert: Monty is great; probably only about 5 years old so lots of life ahead of him.  He was in very good condition when he was found stray. Unfortunately he has gone through the wars with us picking up an acute skin condition which is going as fast as it came. he also has picked up kennel cough bless. Anyway nothing is going to stop Monty finding his home and find it we will! In fact can't wait to meet his new owners and just know they will be a great as he is and equally as lucky.

Monty is a people dog to some degree, but when out on his walk its his walk he is interested in. He welcomes meeting dogs and may well be able to live with another. He is newly neutered and vax. is delayed because of his other issues currently. He must have been loved as his self- confidence seems high. Monty is a favourite ... its that sparkle in his eye despite all; its that skip in his step regardless. Hurrah Monty you'll soon be on your way!

Marie | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Marie, Red Staffie, 3-4 years old

Her Story:  Marie was found stray with another Staffie bitch. They appeared to be together so were kennelled together. They clearly loved each other.

Salient points:  A classic Staffordshire, with a lively, sweet and emotional temperament of about 4 years old. In good health; has been spayed in the past.

Advert: Marie is a happy, happy dog ... the perfect anti-depressant if you like dogs that is!  Fun energy bless her, wearing her heart on her sleeve. She needs an active home and could be homed with her friend who she was found stray with or in with another dog. She definitely needs a secure garden and active family as she has a lot of interest in L_I_F_E. What a happy, happy soul.

Found with her companion and delighted to be in Evette's company. Alas, very unlikely to find a home for them together so are looking to home them in with another dog so they continue dog companionship. Marie is a little perturbed when alone, but loves people equally perhaps even more so easily comforted. Previously spayed, and now fully vax'd and chipped. Small to medium red Staffie. Delight in Marie and be sure she'll delight in you and all you have to offer. Her head is heart shaped in fact she is all heart!

Denzel | Jack Russell Terrier

Denzel, Jack Russell x, DOB 11.08.06

His Story: Denzel has been owned from a pup. Attended puppy socialisation classes and happily lived in a 2 women’s household. Sadly taken against the boyfriend and owner about to move in with her partner.

Salient points: 3 year old Jack Russell cross. Well socialised as pup, but has become 'precious' as an adult. Now scared of other dogs, strangers and openly dislikes soon to be 'live in' boyfriend.

Advert: Denzel is a cheeky Jack who has character and is delightful within his comfort zone which has narrowed down as he has matured. Well socialised as a pup and used to mixing with a family bitch now selective and occasionally reactive to dogs. He has very good recall, but needs to be retained on a lead when other dogs are around as might not welcome interaction. Actually his horizons could be extended gently with confidence behind his lead which a terrier person will manage. Neutered, chipped and fully vax’d. Within his family home in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex. Well trained.

Delightful Denzel is definitely the terrier who got the upper hand! He loves to dictate the agenda and uses his 'loads of character' to cement his endearment from his owner. Sadly he has no idea that he needs to find a new home and if we can do a direct homing he may not need to know he was ever in rescue. Needs a patient, kind and firm new owner who has a twinkle in their eye when he tries to use his twinkle in his eye to set the agenda.

Jess | Staffordshire Bull Terrrier

Jess, Staffie, DOB Jan 08

Her Story: Jessie was found stray in Lancaster. She was micro-chipped so her owners were contacted and stated that she had been passed on to someone who they didn't have a record of and they didn't want her anymore.  We were told she was good with children and dogs.

Salient points: Medium build Staffie.  Kind, lively nature, conducive for an 18 month old dog. Mixes well with dogs outside, but hasn't lived with another dog. Not for cats or small furries. Branch obsessed, but more about the breaking off soon discards, not a carrier.

Advert: Jessie is beautiful with her big white bib and soft peach brindle coat. She is novice and needs initial work, but will pay you back in heaps in the future.  Affectionate with people, loving with children, delighted to be out on her walks and meets dogs nicely on her lead. She was homed for 24 hours, but small furries a no! and was stressed with another dog in her territory. However delightful company and brilliant with the young children.  She is a busy Miss and pleased to follow you about the house and get stuck into any action or non-action on offer! She gets excited around small furries, cats and even pond fish! For this reason we are looking for an only pet status for her.   Her history is quite vague so would look to home her with children 10 yrs & above with close supervision over visiting young children. She is spayed and vax'd.

Jessie is ready for her family. She is a heart winner and we know her forever family will delight in her if they know the breed, rejoicing in her youth and 'cheeky' nature! She is a beauty with a fresh smile and generous licks given on each encounter.

Frank, Shar Pei X | Shar Pei

Frank, Shar Pei X, 3 years old

History: Found stray, but microchipped. Owners had passed him on. The owner's details were recognised ... 2 mastiffs were found stray in the past, again covered in mange! Thank God they didn't want him back.

Salient points: Challenged with chronic mange, but now under control, no longer contagious and is responding to treatment programme. Aloof in most relationships. Needs companionship and support in coping with isolation. Desperate past so needs aware, patient and committed family.

Advert: Frank is a designer dog ... sadly his life just hasn't lived up to that 'dream label'. Frank was found stray in a terrible state, he isn't out of the woods yet.  ?Shar Pei crossed with a smaller breed, judging by his excess folded coat of a beautiful beige with eyes to match. He is quite young, and has been neglected to the extreme; both physically and emotionally.  He suffers in kennelling, as though experiencing more of the same. However he is now loved, cared for and being prepared for a very special life! Now neutered, vax'd and on a treatment programme which is proving affective for chronic mange. No longer contagious, but still affecting him. Pictures were when he first came in 6 weeks ago.

Frank is sad; Frank has every reason to be.  Our kennels offer him love, toys and he is receiving the very best of attention to meet his needs. He is getting used to formal walks though can sit initially as if to say 'this is taking me out of my comfort zone'. Frank now needs the owner who is willing to be there for him and provide him with the love and individual care to bring him through into his new life. Frank is currently reactive to other dogs. Needs to be an only pet and to have company and to help him trust and become close and adjusted to a domestic setting. Frank needs a special family and whow what a special dog.

Bruno | Collie x GSD

Bruno, 19 month old Shepherd X Collie need home!

His story:  Owned by a young lad who loved, but had no time for him. His father resented his presence and became his main 'carer' / abuser. Bruno was restricted to the lad's bedroom, irregularly fed and subject to shouting and physical abuse, then dumped in the local pound. Bruno's history only came to light as his "Foster with a View to Homing" broke down. Apparent as displayed by his fear of men and lack of confidence on formal walks. Fostered since Aug 08 for healing, building confidence and skill base.

Salient points:  Requires therapeutic family (dog experienced, sensitive) to continue skill foundation. Needs another confident dog as role model, secure garden/exit regime and low dog density exercise location. Could live with children. The man in his life would have to be committed, aware and a true dog lover. Inclusive family i.e. sleeps in bedroom.

Advert:  Bruno is a beautiful Shepherd x Collie in his late teens - 19 months old. Bruno had a shocking start suffering abuse, inconsistent messages and neglect. Now behind him, he has learned what trust is; has built loving and stable relationships with his foster dad, mum and foster dog siblings. Bruno has been living with 3 large dogs and learned to trust the dynamics of a pack. Housetrained, 'treat' trained and respectful of boundaries. Bruno is a loving intimate dog who enjoys his cuddles and sits expectantly, climbing onto the sofa when invited. Bruno now shares attention, treats and space well with other dogs. He is good in the car and walks well around streets on a short lead. Outside in open spaces he can demonstrate concern with other dogs and so temporarily wears a muzzle to ensure contact can be maintained as he learns to trust and not to observe approaching dogs as a threat.

We are specific with the type of home we are seeking for Bruno. He requires at least one other low-maintenance, accomplished dog companion. Bruno also needs a dog sensitive male owner who can continue to develop the trust and heal his now out dated conceptions. He needs to be central and inclusive with the family, sleeping in the bedroom and secure with exits managed and garden fences in good repair and substantial. Patience, time and loving reassurance will enable Bruno to come further into himself as an emergent adult dog. Bruno has so much to offer in return. In the home he is a model dog who is subservient to other pack members, loving and caring towards his family members. He shares his space well and is very forgiving if put in his place by another. Loyal he is, affectionate he is and so, so worthy.
