Rescue and children’s charity Appeal!! PLEASE
HELP!!
CANTERBURY HORSE
RESCUE Are Under threat the sanctuary in Faversham in kent has today made an
urgent appeal for help as the centre was told by their landlord that when the
lease comes to an end he is giving up. Canterbury Horse Rescue that has provided
shelter for hundreds of ill and abused animals over the last 25 years will soon
be made homeless unless it can raise £950,000 to buy a Centre
or lease a
property
The sanctuary, which is based at BOUNDGATE FARM, near
FAVERSHAM, has rented the land and buildings on a five-year lease this will come
to an end in May 2007
Now charity chiefs at the
sanctuary, which is home to 28 Hoses/pony’s as well as young
children Unlike other
equine charities, our rescued horses help humans to overcome their
difficulties. As a training centre we
can provide the opportunity to succeed.
In the past students may have experienced difficulties in achieving
qualifications due to exclusion from school, truancy, misdiagnosed learning
difficulties, or problems due to mental or physical disabilities. An important part of our work is dealing with
emotional and behavioural problems. We
wish for every student to succeed within his or her
capabilities.
The Children’s
committee has launched the Save Our Sanctuary appeal to raise £950,000 to buy a
new home or lease a
property in
FAVERSHAM/ASHFORD/CANTERBURY
A spokesperson for the sanctuary said: We have asked the
landlord if he wants to sell the farm. Unfortunately his son will be taking over
to farm the land. "We have seen five
farms which have recently been advertised locally. Two would be suitable but we
have been unable to purchase them, as we have no readily available
funds.
"We have an urgent need to raise the initial £950,000 to
enable us to be in a position to purchase a Farm as soon as it comes on the
market.
"If we wait until we find the right property, we are
unlikely to be able to raise sufficient funds in the timescale required by the
seller.
"We would be very grateful for any contribution towards
the appeal which you could make, no matter how
small."
To support the appeal you can send a donation by cheques
made payable to Canterbury Horse Rescue and sent it to Boundgate Farm
